The idea of a craft fair began over 25 years ago by a group of caring folks who cared about and the Mt. Alvernia Retreat Center and were seeking ways to contribute to the Center and also just spend some quality time together. They came up with the idea of a craft fair and chose the second Saturday in November as it seemed like the right time to kick off the holiday shopping season. That date has stayed the same ever since, but what has changed is that three other locations now round out the day.

St. Marys Church began its own craft fair, becoming the second location and adding to an already great selection for shoppers.

Around 2009, Zion Episcopal Church, which has been an active part of the community since 1834, decided to get in on the fun and began its own fair.

In 2017, Wappinger Town Hall was added by the Town of Wappinger Recreation Department as a new location.

The goal is to make Wappinger a destination on the second Saturday of November for folks who seek out and appreciate handcrafted items as gifts of all kinds.

Today the makers that join us produce such a wide variety of wonderful items that there is sure to be something for everyone on your list. Enjoy!
