Adirondack Plein Air Festival

Artists apply from all over the country, and 50 are selected to participate by a team of jurors. There are 5 days of outdoor painting, at various scenic locations, and spectators are encouraged to come watch. Locations include the Paul Smith's College VIC, the Villages of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, views of the Adirondack High Peaks, the Ausable and Saranac Rivers, historic buildings, and many other spots. Events include a Nocturne Contest, a "Paint the Town" Silent Auction, a Quick Draw Competition, and a gigantic Show & Sale in the Harrietstown Town Hall. A Juror of Awards will select the 10 prize winners, which include a 1st place prize valued at $2500 or more. A Special Preview Party is held on Friday evening, Aug 17, with awards presented at 8 pm. The Show & Sale is free and open to the public from 12 - 5 on Saturday Aug 18.
